Pictures of Everyday Life

My name is Anne and this is a place for me to reflect on everyday life as it appears in my favourite comics and graphic novels.

When I think about my life experiences - both long and short term - it's almost impossible for me to draw clear lines between banal and extraordinary, hope and despair, beauty and ugliness, triumph and defeat, joy and sorrow, redemption and loss, right and wrong...

And I love stories that reflect this complexity and hybridity. Stories that manoeuvre across boundaries. Books that speak through words and images. Sometimes these movements are smooth and comfortable, and sometimes just the opposite. Just like everyday life.
